Cassandra, Another Nollywood Actress Dies
The actress, who was more popular playing one of the major roles in AK Media’s television drama, Face-2-Face, died on Saturday after a protracted illness suspected to be breast cancer.
A spokesperson of AK Media Concepts confirmed the death of Cassandra, whose stage name was Sisi Caro, to NollywoodReel yesterday, but details of her death were still sketchy as at the time of filing this report.
The late actress’ colleagues who spoke with NollywoodReel described her death as another devastating blow to the entertainment industry, describing her as one of the role interpreters who made Nollywood what it is today.
“Honestly, it is a shocking and sad development because she was quite intelligent and talented. She ranked among the calibre of people who can actually take this industry to the next level with their talents. She will be missed greatly,” said actress Titi Osinowo.
Chief Executive Officer of AK Media Concepts, Benson Akindeju, said: “I still find it difficult to believe that she is actually gone. Cassandra was one of the best behaved actresses that have worked on my set. And she was talented too. May her soul rest in peace.”

At last! Don Jazzy Unveils Own Record Label
Don Jazzy has broken the silence over his future by today announcing the launch of his new record label. Mavin Records, a wholly independent label, which will be the new home for former Mo’Hits stalwarts: Wande Coal, Dr. Sid and D’Prince.
The multiple award winning producer also announced that Tiwa Savage would be joining the Mavin family. The signing of Savage, one of Nigeria’s leading vocalists, is seen as a major coup for the budding record label and Don Jazzy promised fans that there are many more exciting faces to be “activated” by the label in the near future.
*Don Jazzy
Following a very public split with former Mo’Hits partner, Dbanj, speculation had been rife about what projects the producer had lined up. Several stories had rumbled about relations between the pair but Don Jazzy revealed that his eyes are focused firmly on the future.
“I know that there are questions unanswered, mysteries unsolved and wounds to heal,” the producer said. “But I would really appreciate if we allow time to heal the wounds for us all instead of digging them up again.”
*Marvin records crew
The founder and CEO of the new label has spent the last three weeks locked in the recording studio along with the fellow “Mavins” as they finalise plans for their debut compilation album, Solar Plexus, released 8th May. The album has been a collaborative labour of love which has traversed five countries. In the same vein as the previously
Apple May Release $799 MacBook Air Later This Year
Citing unnamed sources in Apple’s supply chain, tech site Digitimes is reporting that the company might introduce a MacBook Air priced at $799 in the third quarter of this year — right in time for the back-to-school season.
It’s key to note that the DigiTimes has a hit-or-miss track record for nailing predictions.
If the rumors are true, the MacBook Air could hit shelves with a price cheaper than its other models, including its latest 11-inch 64GB MacBook Air ($999), 11-inch 128GB version ($1,199) and 13-inch 128GB model ($1,299). The line also features a 256GB version that is priced at $1,599.
The launch of a less expensive MacBook Air could put ultrabooks at a huge disadvantage.
Ultrabooks – which are ultra-slim laptops typically under 0.8 inches thick – have become a hot “it” device in computing, giving on-the-go users a lightweight, full-computer alternative. However, ultrabook sales haven’t been blockbuster right out of the gate as many consumers have turned their attention to the growing tablet market.
However, it’s been reported that Dell’s XP13 ultrabook ($999) experienced strong sales that exceeded expectations since it’s launch in February. The XPS 13, which touts a 13-inch display in a compact 12-inch frame and weighs in at only 2.99 pounds, runs on Windows 7. It also features Intel Core i3 processors, but it can also be upgraded to Intel Core i7 processors.
Meanwhile, some believe that ultrabooks overall won’t achieve strong sales until the launch of Windows 8.

1. Causing sweat.
2. Sudoriparous.
noun:
1. A sudorific agent.
Having thrown him into a cold sweat by his spiritual sudorific, he attacks him with his material remedies, which are often quite as unpalatable.
-- Oliver Wendell Holmes, Medical Essays, 1842-1882
Wracked by such sudorific thoughts, he tossed noisily about, maddened, aching.
-- Angela Huth, South of the Lights
Every sudorific hitherto employed had failed to produce this result upon a skin which horrible diseases had left impervious.

Sudorific comes from the Latin word sūdor meaning "sweat." The word "sweat" is unrelated and comes from the Old English, swote.

Bin Laden's Private Letters Published Online
The United States has released letters written by Osama bin Laden in his final hideout showing how he fretted about his increasingly dysfunctional terror network.
A selection of 17 documents seized in last year's raid on bin Laden 's house in Pakistan have been posted online by the US Army's Combating Terrorism Centre .
The documents were retrieved from memory sticks, memory cards and the hard drive of the al Qaeda chief's computer at his Abbottabad compound .
The correspondence shows a leader revered but sometimes ignored by field commanders, who dismissed him as out of touch even as he urged them to keep attacking US targets.
Bin Laden also worried about the loss of trust from Muslims he wished to incite against their government and the West.
"I plan to release a statement that we are starting a new phase to correct (the mistakes) we made," Bin Laden wrote in 2010.
"In doing so, we shall reclaim, God willing, the trust of a large segment of those who lost their trust in the jihadis."
While Bin Laden saw al Qaeda's
standing with Muslim populations at risk of crumbling, the documents show he remained focused on attacking Americans and coming up with plots, however improbable, to kill US leaders.
Bin Laden especially wished to target aeroplanes carrying General David Petraeus and even US President
Kanye West squashes 'Kim Kardashian is my Beyounce' report
Kanye West might have plenty of sweet nothings he wants to whisper in Kim Kardashian's ear, but the name Beyonce isn't one of them.
Since the two individually overexposed figures combined forces as a maybe-couple about two weeks ago, media outlets have run wild trying to flesh out everything from shopping sprees to romantic dinners to jaunts to Paris.
But one particular claim, that West was calling Kardashian "his Beyonce," according to Us Weekly, did not sit well with the "Watch the Throne" rapper.
"Of course there are a lot of media inaccuracies surrounding this past couple of weeks, especially the 'She's my Beyonce' quote," West told the magazine, refuting its original report.
For those not familiar with the man behind the "Throne," the significance of the comparison was that Beyonce is a longtime friend of Kanye's who also happens to be the wife of mentor and frequent collaborator Jay-Z.
"I would never compare anyone to my friend's wife," he added.
We're inclined to believe him, given that he cared enough to interrupt Taylor Swift's 2009 MTV Video Music Awards acceptance speech and infamously declare Beyonce's fabulous also-ran "Single Ladies" music video "one of the best videos of all time."
You can't fake that kind of reverence, even up against the ample assets of a Kim Kardashian.
Wiz Khalifa Busted for Weed ... Again
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina tells us ... the rapper was ticketed for possession of marijuana after his concert in Winston-Salem last night.
We're told officers discovered 11.39 grams of pot after searching the rapper and his tour bus.
Wiz was cited and released -- and is required to appear in court at a later date.
As we previously reported, Wiz was caught with weed in Nashville on April 21 ... after cops received complaints about marijuana smoke at a local Holiday Inn.

Divine power, especially one who inhabits a particular object.
This “liquid” flowing up his arm and out of the other was numen, the divine substance, the sacred spirit that lives in a certain place in the body and sustains us all.

He was now fairly confident that a shrine, unlike a temple, would contain no resident numen.

Numen is derived from the Latin word nūmen meaning "a nod, command, or divine will or power."
